If We All Loved a Little Bit More

If there is one regret that I have looking back on my life, it’s that I didn’t love enough.

Maybe this is because it took a long time for me to actually have the desire to love myself and other people. I’ve got a lot of my own problems, which anyone can tell you, that haven’t really made loving other people easy. But I really wish that I had done this sooner, because even though I’m still considered young, it feels like it’s already too late.

If there is something wrong with the generation that I am living in, it is that we don’t love enough.

We stop connecting with each other at a certain point because we are afraid to express our emotions. We don’t want to be overly excited for someone or overly involved with someone else because we are afraid of what others might think of us. We are afraid of what might happen if we open up a little too much, share ourselves too much, express ourselves too much. We find it easier to be self-involved than to be invested in another being.

In an age where we have so much ability to communicate, why are we holding back?

We should be living our lives to the point of tears, not living our lives in fear.

So instead of waiting for someone else to text us, we should text them.

Instead of waiting for someone someone to call us, we should call them.

Instead of waiting for someone to forgive us, we should forgive them.

Instead of holding grudges, we should be holding the hearts of others.

Maybe this is over-communicating with each other.

But honestly, who the f*** cares?

Our lives are too short to be playing mind games with each other.

You can spend your whole life being mad at someone, or you can just love them and move on. There is no better time than the present to let everyone around you know how much they mean to you. There is no better time than now to start caring for people you don’t even know. There is no better time than now to make time for people in your life.

If we all learned to love each other a bit more and to stop being afraid of the word “love,” we might just love our own lives a bit more, too. It’s a lot easier to express emotion in life than it is to keep it inside. Plus, it’s not really any fun to keep our emotions to ourselves. There is no greater joy in life than watching your love for someone else improve that person's life.

Just a thought.
